At its 60th session, held on 23 July 2024, the Republic Electoral Commission adopted a Decree on the allocation of an MP’s term of office for the purpose of filling a vacant seat at the National Assembly.
At its 60th session, held on 23 July 2024, the Republic Electoral Commission adopted a Decree on the allocation of an MP’s term of office for the purpose of filling a vacant seat at the National Assembly.
The Republic Electoral Commission noted that, on 23 July 2024, at the First Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 14th Legislature, the National Assembly had noted the termination of the term of office of MPs Prof. Dr Rejhan Kurtovic, Ivana Nikolic and Dr Vladimir Orlic on the day they tendered their resignations.
Terms of office were allocated to the following candidates: Vesna Stankovic and Zdravko Mladenovic, elected from Electoral List ALEKSANDAR VUCIC – Serbia Must Not Stop, and Sabira Hadziavdic, elected from Electoral List USAME ZUKORLIC – UNITED FOR JUSTICE - JUSTICE AND RECONCILIATION PARTY – BOSNIAKS OF SANDZAK, TOMISLAV ZIGMANOV – DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE OF CROATS IN VOJVODINA.
The Republic Electoral Commission went on to adopt the Decision on the Voter Information and Education Plan for 2024.
The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic said that the Decision is aimed at achieving specific targets concerning voter information and education to be realised in cooperation with other state bodies and international organisations such as IFES, ODIHR and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy. The Voter Information and Education Plan also envisages advancement of the organisation and capacities of the Republic Electoral Commission for voter information and education, empowerment and education of voters for the better understanding of the election process, importance of turning out to vote, as well as importance of free, secret and personal voting in elections, advancement of cooperation with public administration bodies, civil society organisations, political parties and other partners for the better information and education of the voters in terms of their rights and obligations in the electoral process, and, just as importantly, for increasing the voters’ trust into the work of the Republic Electoral Commission.
