“The claims that the Republic Electoral Commission had stopped working on Sunday after the press conference at 9 pm, are completely wrong, and I would say malicious”, said the Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic at the press conference held on 4 April. He stressed that for the first time in the history of the electoral process in the Republic of Serbia, the entire data processing could be followed in real time on the REC website, as well as on video beams in the REC seat, which is in line with doubtlessly the highest level of transparency to date, as was recognized and commended by the many participants and organizations who observed monitored the electoral process.
Dimitrijevic stressed that from the publication of data on the REC website there have been over 177 thousand visits and most of the media broadcast the information and graphs processed there.
Speaking of possible complaints concerning the voting at the polling stations, Dimitrijevic said that the objections are submitted to the local electoral commissions whose rulings are subject to double degree of jurisdiction by the new Law, first before the Republic Electoral Commission and the Administrative Court.
“For the first time, by the new election laws, the electoral procedures are regulated in detail with an improved suffrage protection system and there is no doubt that all the legally proscribed acts relevant to the determination of election results have been performed within the legal deadlines which are, as per international standards, considerably longer than before”, said the Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission.
